María Ángeles Del Álamo – Spain

Born in Burgos, in 1985 she obtained a Bachelor in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid. Her current practice combines painting and engraving with research in the fields of sculpture and jewellery design. She has exhibited in Spain, Dominican Republic, United States, Cuba and Egypt. Mª Angeles’ oils and engravings have obtained several recognitions, including the second prize in the national painting contest « Ciudad de Burgos », a scholarship from the University dête Al-Moutamid Ibn Abbad in Asilah, Morocco, invitation to Cuba by the Union of Cuban Writers and Artists and a scholarship from the International Centre for Contemporary Prints. Collections include the City Council of Burgos, the Palace of Culture of Asilah in Morocco, the Modern Graphic Art Museum in Egypt, the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art in Madrid, the Voluntary Museum of the Royal Houses in the Dominican Republic, and the Intaglio Museum of Madrid.

These works search for a balance and spatiality, built as a mechanism in which different planes and lines are fitted. They are dynamic and open works. It is the viewer, with his gaze, the one who is introducing himself and choosing which path to follow.
